Obama logo design video / Extremely belated blog assignment #5

I just came across these two videos on youtube about the creation of the Barack Obama logo... pretty interesting...  The video is made by the design team and really shows the process they went through to reach their final logo and the release of it...

Filigree
seems like contemporary designers use a lot of those swirly lines and whatnot for illustrations...

3D logos
I've been seeing a lot of logos nowadays that are three-dimensional. It'd be interesting to see 1 or 2 color applications of some of these.



and lastly...

Flowing lines and lots of circles
I tried the lines thingy for one of my MFA poster designs... but I see this stuff a lot. Heck, I even tried a poster with circles too...

almost done.

So just tweaked and finalized (really, this time) my Masthead and TOC. I gave the page a 3/4" gutter in the middle instead of a full inch. Overall, I'm like this version MUCH BETTER than the one I had before... I'm so glad we got that critique on Tuesday. And here's the cover again just for cohesiveness...

And as far at the article goes... I tried a few changes.. flipped the headphones as suggested, changed the typeface for "Killing me" and my quote (used the one off the cover, duh), and also tried some different colors.  

I like the dark brown type version a bit (the first one).. but I can't really decide... I honestly like the original lime green colored one the best...  if you're reading this, let me know what you think... 

Print & Editorial: Last Round

So after that guest critique and the grade we finally recieved from Jon, I decided to go back and fix some things about my masthead and TOC.  I've started on a new article layout, but I haven't had time to shoot new photos over the past 2 days so I had to work with what I already had... I just wanted something to show for class tomorrow... I think the Masthead/TOC is A LOT better than what I had before... I'm glad we finally got a critique on this because I totally agreed about the colors and I was very unsure about some aspects of my design... I chose a softer color palette.. I just hope it doesn't look too femine...

Oh yea, Justin should make a "Cream is the new white" shirt too...
