Resume samples

Well I finally decided to start designing a resume today... I took a few hours to gather all the neccessary info and organized it in a simple work document.. then layed some type out in illustrator. I want to apply for that Primal Scream internship Stan just emailed us about, so I gotta get something ready NOW. Anyway, I'm not sure about the little illustration going with the logo, I may remove it altogher... and I'm also not sure about reusing the typeface that goes with the "graphic designer" part of my logo.

Anyway, I layed out a halfway decent resume and forgot that I didn't put my "objective on there"... so I just slapped it in the corner right quick... I may just put it where my contact info is and move the contact info someone on the left column... The final will be made in Indesign... but anyway, whatcha think?

more CD covers....

I don't like the back and I didn't really do anything w/ the type.. but this is what I did tonight

another cover...

I don't know if this says 1960... the typeface in the title surely doesn't... but.. oh well.. this is what I have... this is higher res than the last ones...

He beat Joe Louis' @$$

I've made a litte more progress on my type animation... I tweaked a few things.. added some color.. and I still need to go back and make a few changes.. for some reason when I render, at least on my computer, the audio and video don't sync up exactly.. so I'll probably have to just move the audio track a little back or forward to get it just right when I'm done... anyway.. this is what I have so far...  Watch on youtube HERE or just click on the video above.

CD covers...

here's some concepts I came up with... quick and dirty like

Yooooou must be outta yo GD mind!

Here's the beginnning of my type animation. It's a clip from one of the barbershop scenes in "Coming to America." It's a lot of type because they are talking so fast, but it'll only be about a minute... anyway, take a look.

Oh well.. I can't resize this video to make it fit correctly on the blog, if you wanna see it normal sized click here

Personal logo idea

I've been working on a new personal logo idea, and this is what I have so far. I'm not really sure of this direction because I feel it might be a little too basic. I may come up with some sort of graphic to accompany this or just come up with another idea altogether... let me know what you think.

Film & TV Blog Assignment #1

Here's some movie posters I thought were good and not so good.

OMG! My poster made CNN!

Wow... CNN didn't email me other anything about this... but it looks like they showed my Obama poster from last semester on TV, and they even talked it about it for a second.. and mentioned me.

My mom called me hysterically this morning talking about "Why didn't you tell me you were gonna be on CNN!?"

I had no idea what she was talking about, but it turns out that one of my mom's friends just happened to be have the TV on CNN and heard my name... then she saw my Obama portrait...

After doing a quick google search, I was able to find a video online (it seems that people just record everything now I guess).

This is pretty dope I guess... I sure wish I would have had a website to promote with this... to sell prints!  HA

In the video it says they are going to be showing more Obama inspired art, so somebody else from our class might be next.

Here's a link to the story/video

Update:  Looks like I can embed this video on the blog, so just watch it here

Adobe CS4 videos

I was just able to start using Adobe CS4 yesterday... and I just poked around with some of the new functions available in Illustrator... the improvements to the artboards and gradients tool are great.. ane the blob brush seems like it might come in useful one day... anyway, adobe has some video's on the new features and I thought some of you might want to take a look

Well here's my first book... I created this a few days ago and it turned out pretty well.. over the break I got to meet up with Michelle V. and she helped me learn the ins and outs of book creation...  for a first attempt.. it turned out pretty well... although there were some miscalculations made while creating the cover.. but all is well..  I printed lines in my book as it was to be a notebook for an xmas gift... I used a laser printer just in case it ever got wet, the ink (toner) wouldn't bleed... and the cover is made from 2 types of scrapbook paper (one is seersucker textured) and a strip of cloth... I'm currently at work on books number 2, 3, and 4....

I also created a calendar as a gift over the break... the concept is a calendar that has a variety of images from nature.. .. and I wanted it to have inspirational quotes and whatnot to go on the calendars...   to be honest.. I did all the watercolor paintings over a 2 day span... I layed out the calendar type in less than 2 hours... and the cover was made last (after I almost forgot about it) from an old scanned-in art piece in about 30 mins..

I did learn how to punch holes in boards and place eyelets in them.. which should probably come in useful down the line... and I found that placing this calendar on a $3 woodent mini-easel fit the project quite nicely...

Overall... it's not that bad.. but I wanted it to be much, much more.. maybe I'll go back and revisit this in a little while.. I ran out of time on the details.. but I do enjoy the watercolor paintings I made for this piece... Here's the raw images that got printed out...
